Definitely get ALL the SCAF artifacts, it's the first set you can collect, and the best. IMO the scavenger bots were fun to find and use, and the 3 of them the game gives you is plenty to get all the resources you need.

I also did not buy any of the DLC that grants resources or up to 5 scavenger bots. I know that sounds vague, but only because I typically played it from a fresh start. For example, just beating it on Impossible I think allows you to craft +3 circuits, but only on NG+ as far as I know. It's worthwhile to read a guide that details what the game rewards you for scavenging certain things and beating certain modes, otherwise the first play through can be frustrating. The weapon parts once you've collected enough resources can be crafted, especially if you dismantle circuits or any resources you aren't using anymore, but entire artifact sets must be collected to be rewarded their +3 circuit sets, and to be allowed to craft +3 circuits. Collecting items is very important too, especially artifacts and special weapon parts. This means you can also pick up some items in one of two chapters, even though they are designated as being in a specific chapter. The one thing that can get a bit tricky though is keeping track of all collectibles in a given level, because the game rather seamlessly transitions from one chapter to the next.

There is PLENTY to do and explore in the sp campaign, even without the coop mission areas, but if you are a 100% fanatic, you will need to play with someone to do the coop missions. I also played the Awakened DLC many times, so even though I did not play the coop missions, I DID get in a fair bit of action with Carver. I played sp only, but got to know it very well. I got the feeling some of them didn't even play the game and were just going off knee jerk reactions of what others said about it, and others didn't try different modes or play all of it's content. I have found that many of the bad reviews are vague, and when I suggested things like Classic mode, or asked if they'd played all the dungeons for those whom didn't like the extensive crafting idea or claimed it didn't have enough horror, most would not reply.
